Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com – The official minimum wage (UMK) for Pontianak City in 2026 is Rp3,205,220 per month. This is Rp180,400 more than the 2025 UMK, which was Rp3,024,820. The Pontianak City Wage Council decided on this amount during a recent meeting in the Meeting Room of the Pontianak City Manpower Office (Disnaker).
Iwan Amriyadi Amran, the Head of the Pontianak City Manpower Office (Disnaker) and Chairman of the Pontianak City Wage Council, said that the UMK was set up according to the rules and procedures of the law. It took into account a number of regional economic indicators.
The alpha point method, which has five settings, is one of the most important tools for figuring out the UMK. There are various things to consider when choosing the alpha point. These include investment circumstances, inflation rates in the region, and the long-term health of the corporate sector.
“We use this alpha point approach to ensure fair and measurable wage determination. It still takes into account the needs of workers and the capacities of the business sector,” Iwan stated.
He said that the Pontianak City Wage Council has finished all parts of the conversation about the 2026 Pontianak City Minimum Wage, as is their right. The next phase is the administrative process. It requires the mayor of Pontianak’s consent and the governor of West Kalimantan’s approval.
“We have finished the work of the Wage Council. Next, the mayor just has to approve it and send it to the province,” he continued.
Iwan says that the alpha point is between 0.5 and 0.9. The alpha point was established at 0.8 by the West Kalimantan Provincial Government. “The province has fixed its alpha level at 0.8, so the area can not go below that,” he said.
At first, the labor union suggested utilizing the highest alpha point, which is 0.9. The Wage Council also had to think about how well enterprises in Pontianak City could do, though.
“If we utilize an alpha point of 0.9 directly, it would have a catastrophic effect on enterprises. So, taking into account the rules of the province and the actual situations of entrepreneurs, it was decided to utilize an alpha point of 0.8,” Iwan said.
Even though Iwan used the same alpha point as the province, he said that the Pontianak City Minimum Wage (UMK) will still be higher than the West Kalimantan Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP).
“The minimum salary in Pontianak is still greater than in West Kalimantan, and the rise is rather big. This minimum salary for 2026 will start in January 2026,” Iwan said.
He said that everyone on the Pontianak City Wage Council agreed with the decision and signed the minutes. These are the legal foundations for setting the 2026 UMK.
Everyone has consented based on their legal and official powers. He said, “So, the Pontianak City Wage Council has finished its job of setting the 2026 UMK.”
